I Followed the Quote on My Notebook, “Say Yes to New Adventures”

Five months ago, I came home from completing an incredible year of travelling and was wondering what was next for me? As I watched more and more of my friends begin to settle into their careers, I felt the societal pressure to do the same. However, as my friends and family know very well, the travel bug had infected me loong ago, and I was still itching to explore! Although, the problem was, I felt burnt out with the pattern I had developed of putting in 50-60 hours per week of work for a few months; growing my funds; then travelling for a few months; and repeating that cycle (YES, I have ALL-STAR employers!). This is when I faintly heard about the Superyacht Industry. After putting through a brief google search, I instantly saw some information that sparked my interest. From then on, the more research I did, the more appealing it became! I then looked up flights to London, originally just for fun, but then I found one for $267 CAD! Should I make this a reality? At this point, I was already working as a waitress and working double shifts as a support worker – some days I was working 12-14 hours! I asked myself, “why not do similar work, while travelling the world, basically for free?” (once the training costs are paid off, workers have accommodation, food, and hygiene products covered) – seems like a no-brainer! However, I was also conflicted with the idea of doing the ever-so classic, holiday work visa in Australia – but i’ll save that for later ;). Personally, I have always found the least popular option, to be the one most appealing! In this case, it was the yachting! At the end of January, I signed up for a STCW- Basic Safety Training Course, and now… here we are! It’s hard to believe that I have just landed in London – the start of a new adventure, in hopes to become a stewardess on a Superyacht! I have to admit, I was hesitant to post this, Unlike some who like to manifest their goals by putting it out into the universe, I have always felt like if I announce something before it happens, I will jinx it. Fingers crossed, I just have a weird mentality, and it’s the former! Now, I am currently on my way to Brighton, England to do some exploring!
